beacon theater staff

Just finished recouperating from the december 30th and 31st shows. the music was great, as it always is when gov't mule is on stage. but i felt the staff at the "under new management" beacon theater were a little too overbearing. with the exception of a few, most of them were rude as if we were all in the way or something. i have definitely felt more welcome and more laid back there in the past. as much as the sound is great in the theater, the staff is going to ruin people's ambition to attend more mule shows there. the energy level was low in the building beacuse of it. sad.

you are so right the vibe at the Beacon is not the same...from what I understand a lot of bands including govt mule will not be playing at the beacon in 2010..PS THE 12/31/09 SHOW WAS INCREDIBLE!!!!

I have never been to a Mule show at the Beacon, that had a second encore(And I've been to around ten). Im guessing the same for the 500 or so people that left before they came out again to play a cover of "Woodstock". Even with all that Left those who remained in The Loge Finally got off there Asses and it was Shaking. Before that I agree that the WED night Crowd was a bit subdued. The Show Was still great and my best night of the year.

An Addendum to my last reply.

It was my first trip back since the Renovation.
As far as the Staff... I was in the Loge and the ushers & Bartenders were friendly. And during the Break the Gals working the Door in the Orchestra let me through wander around to Take Some photos. The Security Guys at the end of the Aisles against the stage even moved out of the way and let me lean my camera on the Stage for a few shots During the Break. All in all I thought they would be a lot Stricter under the MSG - Dolan Regime!

As far as being told to put out smoking materials... Its the Law! We used to get away with opening an exit door in the balcony or loge to light up. Did not see that Wed nite.

Biggest Disappointment of the Night was the Lack Of Extra Rest Room Stalls after the 15 Million they spent renovating.

I noticed a big Change when Dolan MSG took over in 2006 before Renovation. I remember a time pre 2006 takeover walking up to the window at show time and Getting Standies in the Loge for $30- $40. Another Fire Code now enforced.

When I high Profile Company like MSG owns the Venue, They are going to enforce the Law. I kind of Expected that.

Too Bad About No Beacon ABB Run In 2010. Cirque is sure to make a killing for them. By the way you can still get Half price tickets to the Cirque show at MSG theatre. Not sure what Genius thought that is a better draw than 15 nights of ABB and Other acts in the Spring. Good Luck with that.
